Banag-banag Youth Performing Arts
The
Banag-banag Youth Dancers and Choir is a newly formed group created by
one of the Banag-banag Inc. committee member, Honey Pulie. The children
of the Banag-banag Inc. committee members accompanied their parents to
the committee meetings and group and social activities. Honey
greatly believes that it would be a great idea to get the
children involved with Banag-Banag Inc. to prepare them
to be responsible leaders and members. Being a Banag-banag dancer
herself, Honey thought it would be wonderful to teach the children to
dance and encourage the children to be a part of their heritage at an
early age.
Honey has greatly encouraged the children and suggested that they create
a Banag-Banag Inc. Junior Performing Arts group. The children were so
excited with the idea that before long their friends wanted to join too!
The Banag-banag Youth Dancers and Choir’s members now consist of the
committee members’ children and their children’s friends.
The
Banag-banag Youth Dancers and Choir’s first appearance was on Christmas
2013. The children presented the committee members and their guests with
the Nativity show followed by the Subli dance. The event was such a
great success that this l new performing arts group has already received
so many invitations to perform at special events .
Some of these invitations to mention are the following:
8th
June - Our Lady of the Rosary Primary School Kellyville to celebrate the
Pentecost.
14th June - The Philippine flag raising in Blacktown held in Bowman
Hall, sanctioned by the Australian Philippine Service League (APSL).
28th June - The Philippine flag raising in Parramatta held in the
Parramatta Town hall.
This wonderful new group is
full of enthusiasm to learn
dances, dramas and
other literary arts. The children are not only getting fit and having
fun with their friends; they have
also developed a
sense of fulfillment. Through this, they will be able to learn, value
and preserve their heritage
and culture .
